Have you ever wondered how rocks are formed? How some of them become to be so shiny? Where as other one's are dull and dusty? Well there is a process that all rocks have to go through in order for them to be like they are today. It's called the Rock Cycle. Let me tell you how it works...
First of all the Rock Cycle starts in the mantle. The mantle has two parts, the upper mantle and the mantle. From the mantle, the Molten rock pushes it's way through the upper mantle and then the core, to form Magma. The Magma turns into extrusive Igneous rock which are formed in the crust's surface. And erupts out of the volcano and turns into Lava.
When the Lava cools, it's then become Igneous rock. Over time, the Igneous rock wears away due to Weathering happening on the mountain. This can turn into Soil, which can transportate down the face of the mountain into the ocean. The density of the eroded rock will sink to the bottom of the ocean (Sedimentation) and layers of Sediment are pressurised into the earth forming Sedimentary rock.
Heat from the radioactive processes from the earths core will heat and squash the Sedimentary rock. Making it Metamorphic rock with layers. The Metamorphic rock towards the top of the layer will uplift to the surface, and the Weathering will erode away the rock either making it into Soil or transportating it down the face of the mountain again, and into the ocean. The lower layer of the Metamorphic rock will melt from the heat of the molten rock, and back into magma ready to become extrusive Igneous rock. And erupt from a Volcano.
And thats a Rocks life!
